Well everyone, i’m alive. Wednesday night my headache that i’ve had for a good 15yrs or so got really bad. I started throwing up and Kelley decided enough was enough and off to the ER I went. The doctor there told me I am not to use excedrin ever again to manage my headaches, as it’s eating through my kidney and stomach. They pumped me full of morphine and some anti vomit agent. I didn’t have a very good reaction to that second shot because my blood pressure dropped and they had to put me on oxygen. It was pretty scary. The room was moving around me, I was sweating, I couldn’t feel anything because of the morphine. The only thing going for me was that the headache was gone.
So they put an IV in me to get fluids into my system while on oxygen for a while. Eventually I did start to feel better and color came back to my face. At around midnight or so they finally let me go with a perscription for some pain medication. I still wasn’t feeling right. The second shot they gave me I was having a really bad reaction to. By the time I got to the 24/7 walgreens I was vomiting again and Kelley called the ER. They told me to come back. When I got there, they put another shot of something or another in me to counteract the shot they had the first time. It seemed to work. After about another hour there (i slept most of the time) they let me go.
They reccomended I go to neurologist, so yesterday (friday) I did that. I didn’t go to work Thursday or Friday, I was too out of it. The neurologist hooked me up with an MRI of my brain and neck. I was in the little tube for about 40min. The doctor said everything tested out ok for me there. She did perscribe 3 new medications though. 1 I take every night, 1 I take every 8 hours, and 1 I take when I really need it. I havn’t taken the “when you really need it” yet, because the first two seem to be keeping the headaches down to a manageable level.
So that’s that. My hospital story.
